S. Dallas Dance
Board Member
Distinguished as a visionary and innovative leader, Dr. S. Dallas Dance is the Executive Vice President of Operations for Pacific Educational Group, Inc. In his position, Dr. Dance serves as a senior strategic advisor to the President and Founder and is responsible for leading, planning, directing, coordinating and overseeing the operational activities in the company, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs.
Dr. Dance has received numerous national awards and board appointments for his impact on organizational culture, rigorous instruction, vibrant leadership pathways, leveraging of technology and dynamic community engagement.
Previously, Dr. Dance worked tirelessly in leadership. He served as the Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, the 25th largest school district in the nation and used his position to pioneer equity-centered shifts in teaching and learning, which closed the graduation achievement gap between black and white students and increased graduation rates overall. Prior to coming to Baltimore, Dr. Dance served as one of three chief school officers responsible for the administration of nearly 300 schools in the Houston Independent School District, the seventh largest school system in the nation. In Virginia, Dr. Dance worked in the executive and building levels of public education and corporate America to develop leadership and curriculum, support instruction, create assessments, and plan and strategize improvement.
Dr. Dance is also the Founder and President of The DDance Group, Inc. where he assists school systems and government agencies build internal leadership capacity and maximize organizational potential and success. The practice is committed to becoming the premier partner for organizations looking to accomplish their biggest goals and solve their biggest challenges.
Dance earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia Union University, a master’s degree in administration and supervision and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Dance has written three books and enjoys traveling, music, reading and all sports—especially golf. He is the proud father of one son, Myles Dallas Dance.
